Key Procurement Initiatives for a CFO

Recently, I attended a user conference for one of our integration partners. During the conference, I had the opportunity to sit in on a panel discussion about what procurement initiatives are important to today's CFOs.

The panelists discussed how finance and purchasing resources find themselves more closely aligned as they jointly attempt to manage "uncertainty." Each challenges its resources to be financial stewards every day to contain costs, generate savings and improve compliance, all while trying to anticipate and support growth opportunities. They acknowledged that the influence of procurement has increased over the past few years and is seen by most as a growing contributor to competition.

What are your key procurement initiatives and what keeps you up at night?

Ultimately, a CFO has one central concern when it comes to procurement: getting the projected savings to the bottom line. Interestingly enough, of the five CFOs on the panel, only two use eProcurement. The two who use a solution validated the importance of procurement automation by explaining the ability to oversee all buying from an analytical perspective.

Spend management is not new to CFOs. What is new to CFOs over the last ten years is the ability to have immediate visibility over all steps of the procurement process. This includes requisition to payment, invoicing, reporting, data analytics and more. Now with the help of eProcurement, this information is at their fingertips, or at the very least, a push of a button.

Cue to Users:

easyPurchase has the ability to automatically email a copy of a Purchase Order released as a "Hard Copy" order to the person who released it.

Once received, the buyer can:

  • Forward it to the appropriate vendor if the email address is known
  • Forward it to the original requisitioner
  • Print the order and fax it to the vendor

If you would like to explore this option or have it enabled in your training environment, please contact Customer Supprt at support@esmsolutions.com.
